When crisis strikes, Hatzolah is just a phone call away. Our round-the-clock commitment to your safety means that no matter the hour, help is always at hand.
Your first port of call
Available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, Hatzolah is designed to be your first point of contact in a medical emergency.
We work closely with Ambulance Victoria to provide immediate medical assistance, offering time-critical care as you wait for an ambulance to arrive.
That means you should call Hatzolah FIRST on 1800 613 613 when a medical emergency occurs.
Rapid response – when every second counts
If someone is choking, having a stroke or suffering a cardiac arrest, the chance of survival decreases with every minute that medical intervention is delayed.
In our key geographical area, Hatzolah’s average response time is just 4 minutes – making us a critical link in the chain of survival.
When you call, we will:
- Immediately locate the closest responders on Hatzolah’s Computer-Aided Dispatch System
- Send them straight to the scene of the emergency
- Communicate continuously with Ambulance Victoria to ensure seamless coordination
Trained in – and prepared for – all medical emergencies
Our volunteers are trained by Ambulance Victoria and prepared to handle all kinds of medical emergencies. Every responder:
- Holds a foundation level Certificate II in Medical Emergency First Response
- Undergoes specialised training in emergency medical administration (e.g., methoxyflurane, salbutamol, nitroglycerin) and the use of laryngoscopes and Magill’s forceps for choking emergencies
- Is equipped with a full set of life-saving equipment and medications – including defibrillators, oxygen, EpiPens and Ventolin
